Trinity & St. John's are Searching for a Priest

The Trinity and St. John  parishes of the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts present a profile for a Rector and Vicar to their collaborative ministry.

Trinity Episcopal Church, located at 33 Linwood Avenue in Whitinsville and St. John’s Episcopal Church, located at 49 Central Street in Millville, Massachusetts entered a collaborative ministry in 2012 with the rector providing leadership at both parishes.

This collaborative ministry was proposed to the parishes by the Episcopal Diocese of Western Massachusetts in order that a full-time position could be offered to a prospective Rector candidate.

This profile is a combined effort of a joint Search Committee blending the common factors of both parishes and highlighting the unique dynamics that have made this a successful collaboration.

Ministry at Trinity focuses on spiritual formation including prayer, teaching, and caring through Bible Study, small group meetings in homes, and Sunday School for all ages. These ministries are inclusive and diverse, welcoming everyone in our blended congregation, as well as our community, of ages and social conditions. Trinity is very committed to outreach programs and several of these ministries have become traditions for decades and something the surrounding communities as well as the beneficiaries look forward to year to year. Trinity and St. John’s have, on several occasions, endeavored to combine these ministries and with success for the collaborative ministry as well as the benefit of the outreach recipients.

Ministry at St. John’s also focuses on spiritual formation but to a more mature demographic. A Sunday school population does not currently exist but in the past was very robust. This is a ministry St. John’s hopes to rebuild in the future. St. John’s participates annually in several Community events with the local Roman Catholic Church and New Hope Baptist Church. Lessons and Carols service is a very well attended service as well as a community Stations of Cross walking between the three Churches.
